Getting to Kite Buen Hombre

Your Complete Transportation Guide to Caribbean Kitesurfing Paradise

Reaching Kite Buen Hombre is easier than you think. Whether you're heading to our peaceful Buen Hombre lagoon or the vibrant Cabarete beach, we've got you covered with detailed directions, transportation options, and insider travel tips. Both locations offer world-class kitesurfing conditions and are well worth the journey.

The Dominican Republic has a unique public transportation system. Unlike many other places where travelers can use nighttime to travel while they sleep, most public transportation in the Dominican Republic operates only during the day.

The North Coast is particularly tourist-friendly, with popular spots like Las Terrenas, Cabarete, Sosua, and Puerto Plata. If you're planning to visit Buen Hombre, it's about a 3.5-hour drive from the Puerto Plata airport and a 2.5-hour drive from Santiago International Airport. Santo Domingo Las Americas Airport is more than a 4-hour drive away.

Traveling by guaguas (vans) and carritos (small buses) is a typical Dominican experience; however, it can be challenging if you have kite bags and a suitcase. One of our dear friends advised, "Make sure you get safely and securely to your first base camp, and then you can figure out your options."

In larger cities, Uber is a reliable option, but it may not be available outside those areas. We also offer car transfers and minibus rentals for your convenience. Happy travels in the Dominican Republic!
