Puerto Plata International Airport (POP):
Located 25 kilometers west of Cabarete, this modern airport receives direct international flights from major North American and European cities. Flight time from Miami approximately 2 hours, from New York 3.5 hours, from Toronto 4 hours, and from European capitals 8-10 hours.
Airport Transfer Service: We arrange comfortable private transfers from Puerto Plata Airport to our Cabarete location (approximately 35-40 minutes depending on traffic). Drivers meet you at arrivals with name signs, assist with luggage, and provide orientation during the drive. Transfer service included in package rates or available separately for independent travelers.
Santiago Airport Alternative: Cibao International Airport (STI) in Santiago offers additional flight options and is approximately 90 minutes from Cabarete. We can arrange transfers from Santiago if this better suits your flight routing.
Ground Transportation in Cabarete: Most guests find cars unnecessary as the town is compact and walkable. Motorcycle taxis ("motoconchos") provide inexpensive point-to-point service. Shoulder Season (September - November): Wind becomes less consistent with more variable conditions. Still good riding days, but requires flexible scheduling. Lower accommodation rates and fewer crowds appeal to experienced riders who can chase conditions and don't need daily sessions.
Water Temperature: Warm year-round (26-28°C), eliminating the need for a wetsuit except for extended sessions or winter predawn/evening riding. This comfortable water temperature encourages long sessions and makes learning less daunting.
